RadioMail is an application that provides convenient access to the Winlink amateur radio email system. With this app, users can easily compose, read, and reply to messages from anywhere.

The app offers both network and radio access options. Network access allows users to send and receive messages via telnet using the main Winlink server or through the Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network (AREDN). On the other hand, radio access enables users to pair their device with a VARA or KISS packet modem using WiFi or Bluetooth. Radio control can also be configured through rigctld. It's important to have an operational version of the VARA modem available on your connected computer for this functionality. Packet mode supports various packet modems such as Mobilinkd, PicoAPRS, and Dire Wolf packet modems. Additionally, users can configure up to two digipeaters for packet or VARA FM mode connections.

The app features a station directory that automatically retrieves station details from Winlink, which are organized based on proximity to the user's current location. Users can also add custom stations for peer-to-peer connections (note: peer-to-peer connections are only outbound). The favorites list allows users to save stations for quick access by modes and bands during connection initiation.

With RadioMail, sharing photos becomes easy. Users can directly access their device's camera or attach photos from their library. The app optimizes images to reduce transmission time. Users can preview and annotate received attachments, save them to local folders or iCloud, or share them via other apps.

Another useful feature is the support for 100+ standard Winlink forms. These forms are kept up to date with automatic updates. GPS coordinates are pre-filled according to the user's location. Received forms can be shared or printed as PDFs. Users can also install custom specialized forms by importing a zip file. It's important to note that access to forms is an optional premium feature that requires an in-app subscription.

The app utilizes the phone's internal GPS for accurate location data in position reports, which are posted to the Automatic Packet Reporting System (APRS) network.

RadioMail fetches new messages automatically and shows notifications while running in the background, eliminating the need to constantly check for new messages. However, it's worth mentioning that this feature is only available for telnet connections.

When it comes to addresses, users can send or receive messages with their primary Winlink account, tactical addresses, or secondary accounts. The app seamlessly allows users to send messages to both Winlink and regular email addresses. Users can look up contacts from the address book and access their email addresses when composing messages.

It's important to note that RadioMail is independently developed and not affiliated with the Amateur Radio Safety Foundation, Inc. (ARSFI), which supports the Winlink Global Radio Email system.
